CHAPTER 1OVERVIEW
 

1.1  Introduction

Thank you for purchasing the CONCRETE KEY, Concrete key that gives you quick and easy multiple restore point system recovery.

With C-key you have the power to immediately restore healthy system configuration and lost or damaged data in seconds.

Concrete key protects you from system crashes, virus damage, failed software installations, and even user error.

CONCRETE KEY provides extra security by requiring two forms of ID verifications the Key ID and User Password.

1.2 System Requirements

Operating Systems: Windows 2000 professional, Windows XP professional or

                                   Windows XP Home Edition, Windows 2003 Server

Hardware: IBM Pentium III or compatible

File format: FAT 32, NTFS

Interface: Main USB Port

 

1.1  What is Concrete Key?

The Concrete Key is a revolutionary hardware solution designed to protect business computers

by enabling user to instantly repair major software related problems.

The user does not have to know anything about the cause or the steps required to repair the problem,

does not have to wait for technical support, or suffer from business downtime.

 

1.2  How does the Concrete Key work?

The Concrete Key provides a unique technology (Copy On Write) that effectively protects your

Windows system at the initial boot stage (prior to Windows launch),

which enables instant rollback to a preset optimal condition in case of failure,

even if Windows in not functioning. User can produce new data and perform new installations,

then protect his data and system settings by saving new save points, or instantly rolling back (in second)

to any previous setting if required.

                         

1.3  No device driver needed!

The Concrete Key uses USB human interface device.

No device driver is needed just plug n play and totally user friendly.

   
 

CHAPTER 2Installing Concrete Key 

1.   Before installing Concrete Key you should have a reliable and virus free Windows system to become the Root Point.  

2.   Close any open programs including virus-checking software and startup/system tray programs.

3. Insert the Concrete Key to an USB port and check the device manager for USB Human Interface Device if it is correctly installed.

4. This will be appeared on the screen and type in the Key ID which is labeled on the CD-ROM and your password.

 Please make sure that you remember both KEY ID and Password well in case of USB key lost

5. Put CD into the CD drive then run and Click on

for next step.

6.  It will run check disk program first and then the main software. Finally restart the Windows automatically.

7. IF YOU HAVE PROBLEM WITH CHDSK PROGRAM PLEASE DO THE FOLLOWING FROM THE

    LOCAL (C: ) PROPERITES AND RUN CKEYSETUP AGAIN.

8. It will show c-key icon in the task bar when the Concrete key is ready to use.

 

 

CHAPTER 3 Using Concrete Key

 This icon will be shown or disappeared depends on the C-Key is connected to the USB port or not,

Please double click it to run the C-key manager program.

You will see currently use save point (Root Point the very first Windows system).

3.1 Display Real Free Space on C: Drive.

Enter System Standby Time -- (The default is 10 Seconds)

Not Enough Free Space Warning (MB) -- this is real hard disk space.

Enter System Automatically -- this will let user has the option to show boot up menu

or directly to other save point windows without boot up menu.

 

Administrator Password -- this will let you to change the password (There is no

password for default setting).

 

3.3.Protecting System Disk Configuration – the default setting is only C: Drive Protected.

Before you make new save point please confirm those:

  1. What is the Windows you are using now? For Example you are using Root Point Windows.
  2. You only can select new save point or cover old save point in sub-layer. Not the same level layer or above.
  3. You can use the time setting or type your letters to name the save point.
  4. When you click Save it will reboot the system right away

          and you will see the saving process in the boot up menu logo.

Recovery-- Highlight the save point to be recovery.

another way to recovery save point is to enter the administrator mode in boot up menu

and select the save point then press F8 for recovery. 

When you execute this function the Windows will reboot and restart the Windows in pre-saved configuration.

All the new files or folders that you create after the save point will be deleted completely.

Delete-- Choose the delete point to be deleted. (SSLVPN)

 

The save point will delete immediately and can not recover back.

Save Point Configuration-- When you check this box it means that the save point you select will be hidden

in the boot up menu and no other can select this save point to access in.

Disk Recovery Mode -- You can choose when and how to set the recovery mode.

Every time recovery—recovery every time when start the system (Recommend to computer lab or internet coffee shop)

Every Month, Every Week, Every certain day or time for recovery.

 

 

CHAPTER 4Using Administrator Mode

Input Password & Click Enter

F 8Select recovery point to execute recovery function in C Drive.

F12UninstallRemove C-Key program.

Caution: When you execute remove program, please backup your database, the

System will be back original status when you install first time the C-Key program.

 

 
 

CHAPTER 5Q & A  

Q1.Is C-Key program occupied the memory space? Will it affect to the system efficiency? 

    ANo. C-key only occupied few hard drive spaces, when users install the program first time that will take 0.1%

           of hard disk drive spaces. Every time you save to a new save point, this will occupy 1% of new data.

           That is the reason C-key has 100 save points limit. 

 

Q2. If it appear Disk Error or can not install message when you install C-key program at beginning, how can I do?

   A C-key will run CHDSK before installation, if disk Error message appears that means your HDD has bad sector

            or disk damage.

            Please clicks on Start and open My Computer right-click on the local drive C: to check and click Properties.

           Click on the Tools tab and select Check Now box and start scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors.

           After that you can run ckeysetup.exe again.

Q3.How to hide the boot up menu when you want to enter Windows directly? 

    AIn C-Key manager panel select automatically enter system function and assign a recovery point then you

            restart the system. It will skip the boot up menu screen before Windows started.

 

 Q4. How to setup each user to has their own Windows if there are many users for only computer? 

    AC-Key uses COW technology may provide the multi-users to use their own personal Windows :

1.      Install a pure and clear Windows system only.

2.      Install C-Key program to establish original pointRoot Point.

3.      Reboot the system, enter from Root Point to the Windows and install the individual application software

         or configuration. And to save a new save point.

4.      Reboot again the system, from Root Point to the Windows to do the same step and create another person’s Windows.

5.      Successively follow same procedure to establish Third, Fourth…etc. 

6.      After finish all users save points they can choose their own Windows from the boot up list menu.

 

Q5. When I check Local drive C: for free spaces in My Computer why their spaces is bigger than C-Key Manager panel

            “Real Free Space”

  1. Because of many save points consume the space that the Windows won’t notice these save points behind the scene.

     You should count the real Free space by C-key manage panel instead of Windows local
